Year in Review and 06 Resolution
At a personal level I've had a fantastic year, I got to gig with my favorite trio on a few occasions, met and established relationships with some amazing cats, pretty much gigged either privately or publically most every week of the year, and my CD received and continues to receive decent airplay all over the country and internationally as well...
It sets the stage for what I believe could be an amazing 2006, but 2005 wasn't a time of exuberant celebration for me and often my mood fluctuated more with the turn of events in the gulf region (here and over seas) and after the Asian Tsunami in the closing days of 04 than they did with my own personal fortunes. Often I felt my own victories lacking importance and my contributions to help insignificant compared to the suffering and injustices I associated with the stream of current events.
But through it all I was buoyed by the encouragement that I received from my "fans" (I still cannot believe that I have fans), for all those who came to a gig, or bought a copy of my CD, or sent me an email. Thank you.
I really do believe that in all that we do (that is good, responsible and outward/other focused!) that we're really only truly living in those moments. Music certainly has it's part in this to heal and soothe or to agitate and rally into action as the case may be.
This upcoming year I will create and sing beautiful music, but I will also agitate when and where necessary (GOD willing).
