Next week we go into the studio to record my cd!
Next week we go into the studio to record my cd!
I cannot believe this moment is finally here (decades in the making!) It will be a bit eclectic but with a strong basis in straight ahead jazz, with a brief foray into R&B.
I'll be covering 6 songs (5 standards, one classic R&B ballads, with two of my original songs thrown in for good measure):
- Selections on the CD:
- You Make it Better (an original song and one I believe will become an instant classic)
- Nola's Song (from She's Gotta Have it (Thanks to Spike & his Dad for this wonderful piece)
- Invitation (beautiful, haunting arrangement + double time)
- Lush Life (remake of a classic with a little bossa in there)
- Until I Met You(corner pocket) (this one really sizzles!)
- Forever For Always For Love (a cover of that classic Luthor song)
- Almost Like Being in Love (we swing this puppy!!)
- To Be Free (an original song inspired by Eric Satie's Gymnopedies 1)
This is only the first step. There is still photography, art direction, mastering, etc..., but it's all underway. When I get this cd out, I'll also be updating the look and feel of my site and begin aggresively sending stuff out to folks about what I've been up to these last few months. It's gonna be fun. Catch you later
